First, combine the measured flour and salt in a food processor and pulse. Next, toss in cold butter, cut into cubes. process, then add water & process again.

Knead the dough until it comes together and pat it into a disk. Then, add a little more flour to the surface and roll out the dough into a 16- to 17-inch circle.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, roll the dough around the rolling pin, and unroll it onto the prepared baking sheet.

Peel, core, and slice four medium apples. Arrange the apple slices on top in overlapping circles leaving three inches of the edge.

Fold the pie dough over the apples, coat the apples with melted butter, and sprinkle the remaining 1-1/2 tablespoons of sugar on top.

Bake & Brush

Bake for an hour and brush the top with melted apricot preserve.

Serve your homemade apple galette with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream.
