Tart green tomatoes fried golden brown and served with a delicious mustard dipping sauce is a real Southern treat!

firm green tomatoes salt & black pepper all-purpose flour cornmeal panko breadcrumbs egg milk our cream mayonnaise Dijon mustard stone ground mustard

Step 1

Make the dipping sauce. Mix the sauce ingredients before jumping into the fried tomato recipe.

Slice and season the tomatoes. Place each one on a paper towel-lined plate to remove extra moisture and sprinkle them with salt and pepper.

Prepare breading station. Select 3 shallow dishes for the flour, egg, and panko mixture.

Step 4

Heat the oil & coat the tomatoes While the oil is heating up, get to dipping! Dip each slice in flour, shake off excess, then in egg, and dredge with pankko.

Step 5

Fry the tomatoes. Work in batches to cook the tomato slices. Allow them to fry in the oil for about 2 minutes on each side until the outside is nice and browned.
